Funding through the CDFI fund is essential to our home ownership, home ownership preservation and multifamily housing development programs. CDFI funding provides flexible, low-cost funds that fill the financing gaps in projects that provide affordable, safe, and healthy housing to our clients.
CDFIs provide a critical service to low-income entrepreneurs who are generally excluded from traditional financing to receive business training services and access to affordable capital to help them start their own microenterprises and thus improve their family’s and community’s economic stability.
I’ve been a member of a CDFI for 25 yrs and would never go back to a traditional bank, due to the good works that I’ve seen done by CDFI’s. I was also a board member for a few years at one, so I know the inner workings and understand the community missions they take on. My children and I have had a stable home for the past 18 years, partly due to the credit building assistance we received from a CDFI.
