A Story of Resilience and Community Empowerment: Meet Carter’s BBQ

Located in the heart of Cleveland, Ohio, Carter’s BBQ stands as a symbol of American grit and the enduring spirit of small businesses. Featured in GoDaddy’s Made in America documentary series, the journey of Darren W. Carter and his wife Theresa Carter, the founders of Carter’s BBQ, embodies the values of inclusivity and opportunity that GoDaddy champions through its mission.
Care Alliance, a community health center (FQHC) historically focused on providing healthcare to the homeless and individuals living in public housing, will expand its services to residents of the Central neighborhood in Cleveland. The Central neighborhood has the highest concentration of public housing in Northeast Ohio and has limited access to primary care services. The new two-story, 30,000 sq. ft. community health center will house primary care, dental, behavioral health, podiatry, vision and social services, as well as an on-site pharmacy and community rooms. It will meet LEED Silver certification standards for New Construction and Major Renovation.
Waverly Willis is the owner of Urban Kutz, a successful barbershop with two locations in Cleveland, OH. After being in business for several years, he decided to buy one of the buildings where his shop was renting a space, but he was not able to obtain a mortgage through traditional means.
