When founder and owner of s’BLENDID Boba Tea Malee Thao moved to Milwaukee, she noticed something was missing – where were all the Boba tea shops? Boba, also known as “bubble tea,” is a Taiwanese drink that was invented in the 1980s. Mixed with milk or fruits and topped off with tapioca pearls, this Taiwanese delicacy took off in Japan and Hong Kong in the early ‘90s and has now found its way to the United States.
