The project supports Lakes Region Community Developers in the rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of a historic Gale School building in Belmont, New Hampshire. The Gale School will be converted into a dual-purpose center that will meet the region’s urgent social needs. The renovated space will house a 35-slot childcare center operated by the Boys & Girls Club of Central New Hampshire and a program center run by Lakes Region Community Services to serve more than 100 families. The project aims to address severe gaps in child care and support services in the Laconia-Belmont area, needs that only grew more urgent during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
