Davis Park Station
Davis Park Station created 73 affordable family apartments in downtown Lexington and incorporates an on-site workforce training center serving residents and the wider community. CAHEC invested about $7.4 million in private equity in the development, which includes one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.
Noah’s Kitchen
Noah’s Kitchen operates a Louisville restaurant whose profits are donated to local community organizations through its Dine With Purpose model. Community Ventures highlighted the business as its charitable mission gained national exposure and expanded awareness beyond Kentucky.
Mary Jane’s Chocolates
Community Ventures provided a microloan and ongoing business assistance that helped Marie Bryant relaunch her family’s longtime Bowling Green chocolate business after its previous location closed. The financing supported equipment, inventory, renovations, and operating needs while technical assistance strengthened financial management and positioned the business for renewed wholesale and corporate sales.
Meltdown Ice Cream
Community Ventures provided financing and business-development assistance after conventional financing fell through during the build-out of Meltdown Ice Cream’s downtown Bowling Green storefront. The support enabled the business to open its permanent location and continue expanding production and employment.

KY02 Fact Sheet

Throughout our tenure as a CDFI, (since 2010), KyHFH CDFI has been able to support our 31 nonprofit affordable housing entities with 0-2% loans for the construction of affordable single family housing units, capital equipment, staffing needs, energy efficiency upgrades, land acquisition, infrastructure, commercial property and neighborhood revitalization. Without the funding, support and brand of the CDFI, serving low-income clients, neighborhoods and entire counties in Kentucky would not be possible. To date, Habitat in KY has provided close to 8,000 units of affordable housing that serves a population who earn 80% and below the AMI, but also, our largest client base earns 30-60% AMI. Many of our clients transition from renters to first-time homebuyers as well as moving from a pre-1976 mobile home to a traditionally built housing unit, making their lives safer, more affordable and energy efficient. Who else could provide this type of support as well as improvements to our communities than a CDFI. Without the CDFI Fund, none of this would have taken place in the past, currently or in the future.

I support CDFIs because they serve as economic first responders in their communities. Native and consumer loan funds, in particular, are instrumental in lifting our most vulnerable populations out of poverty. These CDFIs provide essential financial services and resources, offering a lifeline to individuals and families who might otherwise be excluded from traditional banking systems. By empowering them to become bankable again, CDFIs help create pathways to financial independence and long-term prosperity.
